SO honored to be a part of this Beta Brand campaign that uses real funny women people as models. Check out the feature in ELLE and my full interview HERE.
Tell us about yourself. Who are you? What about your career are you most proud of so far?
I am Jessie, left handed Aquarius filmmaker, I’m always a little hungry and nauseous at the same time. I get all my ideas from my cat Rosie — she’s 30 pounds and kinda over it and my goal in life is to make her like me. One of my happiest moments was when a girl chased me down the street and spilt her coffee all over me and told me that my film has helped her with the process of getting over her own rape — we laughed, we cried, i licked coffee off my (fake)fur — it was SO REAL. Showing myself, not just the fun shiny parts, through my work connects to other people through that shared vulnerability: Doesn’t get better than that.
When did you first know you were funny? Can you recall the moment and how it made you feel?
Growing up I learned very quickly that comedy IS life — it’s how you deal with it and make sense of yourself and the world. Comedy is no laughing matter — it’s the marrow of life.

Why did you choose to pursue comedy as your career?
I chose to pursue comedy as career because I hate health insurance and love sleeping on your futon.
What is your greatest daily challenge? Reward?
My greatest reward is getting up everyday running around LA sweating my ass off and fighting to be my TRUE self. The biggest challenge is figuring out who the hell that is.
What advice would you give to anyone seeking to find their own path — career, or otherwise?
My advice would be to run directly into the topics, mediums, projects that scare the shit out of you, that’s where the juicy stuff is. FUCK anyone who tries to tell you what your “brand” is — work your ass off, tell the truth and don’t read your youtube comments unless you need something new to talk about in therapy. And always always always flirt with the waiter — free appetizers? your future boss? The possibilities are endless! Go get em!
And Rubber Chickens?
Wait… you talked to the rubber chicken?!!! He told me he was going on a long business trip… to Canada… boom!
