it’s NEVER gonna work out

Our tiny love story

I’ve never been known as a woman of few words. So I thought it’d be a fun challenge to submit to the New York Times tiny love stories section which asks you to tell your love story in only 100 words! It felt impossible to tell the story of falling in love (and staying there) in only a few sentences. Where to start? And more importantly, how does it end? But like most things in life and on the page, less is more. So here’s our big tiny love story. Enjoy!

“There’s no way this is gonna work!” I declared moments after our first steamy kiss in the corner booth of my favorite dive bar. I was a 35-year-old Jewish girl looking for something serious and he was a 27-year-old gentile. He politely disagreed “But what if it does work?” He melted my cold heart and forced me to surrender to tender love. I forced him to go to a nude beach. One terrifying night in the ER he made me laugh and I knew I was wrong. Our baby is due in October. I pray she gets his relentless optimism.
