On the outside Amy had everything I’ve ever wanted, she was a genius who was famous for her talent. Why wasn’t that enough? Even though the film has elements of magical realism, humor,and wish fulfillment history, to me it’s really rooted in the wicked beast that is addiction. Why couldn’t Amy get long term recovery? For every reason and no reason at all. The film aims to explore this infuriating question with wit and grace.
